Jupiler is a Belgian beer brand, well-known in the Netherlands as the sponsor of the Jupiler League. It's a famous beer brand in Belgium and the south of the Netherlands.
Origin
Jupiler is brewed in Jupille-sur-Meuse in Belgium, hence the beer brand's name. It was formerly known as Jupiler 5, which referred to its alcohol percentage and the number of its ingredients. With the lapse of time, the number 5 was omitted from the brand's name.
The beer
Jupiler has a soft taste. The original Jupiler beer has an alcohol percentage of over 5 percent. However, two different versions were added. Since 2006, Jupiler Blue is also sold. This beer is less strong and has a lower alcohol percentage of just 3 percent. It does, however, have the same taste as the original Jupiler. This beer was specially brewed for the moments you would like to have a refreshing beer, but don't want to drink too much alcohol (yet). Jupiler Blue is only sold in Belgium. In 2008, Jupiler Tauro was released. This beer is heavier, with an alcohol percentage of more than 8 percent. These three beers are best drunk cold, at a temperature of 3 degrees.
The bottles
It might surprise you that Jupiler bottles only contain 25 cl, less than most beer bottles. Jupiler's logo is a bull and was last changed in 2006. The bull has been standing on its four legs from then on, where he used to stand on his hind legs before. Just as the logo, the beer glasses underwent a transformation too. Lately, Jupiler uses the slogan "Men know why".
Sponsor
In the Netherlands, Jupiler is the sponsor of the Jupiler League. The prize you can win in the Jupiler League is a golden bull, just like the one in the logo.
Brewery
In the brewery you can see how the Jupiler beer is brewed, which ingredients are used and how amazingly fast the beer is bottled and is put into casks. After the guided tour, you get the possibility to taste this special beer of course. For six euros per person you can get this guided tour in the brewery.
