Recipe for lasagne

 Lasagne is an Italian oven dish, prepared with mince and thin sheets of pasta of about 10 by 15 centimetres. The recipe originates in the centre of Italy and is called after the sheets of pasta, lasagne (plural). In other countries it is sometimes also called lasagna (singular).

This delicious Italian oven dish is quick and easy to make. I got the recipe from a friend and never ate other lasagne again! The preparation takes about twenty minutes and then the disch has to bake in the oven for about twenty-five minutes.

Ingredients (for 4 people): 

Lasagne

  • 400 g mince
  • 1 large onion
  • 10 mushrooms
  • 1 tin of tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • mixed herbs
  • origanum
  • 4-6 sheets of lasagne pasta
  • 2 cups of grated cheese

Béchamel sauce

  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g flour
  • milk

Benodigdheden:

  • saucepan
  • frying-pan
  • spatula
  • oven dish
  • grater
  • whisk

Preparation:

Chop the onion and fry it in some butter. Clean the mushrooms and cut them into small pieces. Fry them together with the onion, stirring regularly, till they are brown. Add the mince and stir until the mince is loose and crumbly. Fry until the mince is brown. Add the salt, pepper, origanum and mixed herbs and mix it well. Add the tomato paste and tomato sauce and mix it through the mince.Take the pan of the heat. 

Make the béchamel sauce by melting the butter. On low heat, add the flour to form a roux. Mixthe flour and butter well until you get a crumbly mixture. Add all the milk at once and mix well with a whisk until the white sauce thickens. 

In an oven dish make layers of béchamel sauce, pasta and mince mixture till the dish is full. Spread the grated cheese on top and bake for 25 minutes in a pre-heated oven on 180 degrees Celsius till the cheese melted.

Tip:

Serve with a fresh green salad or a cucumber salad and fresh rolls with butter.

Left overs can easily be frozen so you can use them at another time. Enjoy this delicious recipe!
