Recipe for a Chicory Oven Dish (3 to 4 people)

If you like chicory and potatoes this might just be the recipe for you. It is easy to prepare and anyone can do it.
Make sure that everything is put out before you start.
Ingredients
- Five heads of chicory
- Packet of ham/ cheese vegetable braise by Maggi
- Packet of mashed potatoes for oven dishes
- 100 g lean cooked ham (cut in small pieces beforehand)
- Container of grated cheese (150 g)
- 150 ml water
- Liquid baking butter
Necessities
- Oven
- Casserole dish
- Stewing pan (or a frying pan with a lid)
- Measuring cup
- Vegetable knife
Method of Preparation
- Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius
- Wash the chicory and remove the brown parts when needed
- Cut the chicory in half and remove the bitter part (the middle of the chicory)
- Cut the chicory in large pieces of about one by one centimeter
- Warm a pinch of butter in the pan and let it heat up
- Put the chicory in the pan with the lid on top
- Let the chicory braise for about ten minutes on a moderately hot stove
- In the meanwhile prepare the vegetable braise with 150 milliliter of water (the container tells differently!)
- Add the ham and vegetable braise to the by now cooked chicory
- Continue to heat this until it thickens
- Turn off the stove
- Prepare the mashed potatoes following directions on the container (when you use fresh puree, make sure you have about 600 g of puree)
- Combine the mashed potatoes with the chicory mix in the casserole dish and stir it
- Smoothen the top
- Now sprinkle everything with the grated cheese
- Put the casserole dish in the oven and leave it there for about 35 minutes.
Your dish will be ready after about 35 minutes.
